The Correction of Microtia with Contralateral Autogenous Ear Cartilage Grafts

Abstract
There are several methods in the correction of microtia. But, surgical reconstruction of the pinna is difficulat and although there are several reports of excellent results, most individual plastic surgeons have limited personal experience of this condition. And there many problems in autogenous rib cartilage grafts and¢¥silastic frames in reconstruction of microtia.
So, we used the contralateral normal ear cartilage of saiiie individual in reconstruction of the micortia and got a good result. So, this paper described the method that we have used -to correct the microtia and reconstruct an acceptable ear.
The advantages of the using of autogenous cartilage are as follow: 1. can be used in major auricular reconsturction.
2. natural auricular support (delicate form and elastic property)
3. easy fabrication
4. no need of the extensive donor site surgery
5. if contralateral auricle is large, reduction and reconsruction can be done simultaneously.
